Self-Service Troubleshooting
Try these fixes first. Most setup and control issues are resolved in a few minutes.
Windows SmartScreen warning appears
- Use More info, then continue if you downloaded from the official Download page.
- This can still happen early for newly signed builds while reputation builds.
Activation does not complete on first launch
- Confirm the host PC has internet access and can reach golfsimremote.com.
- Complete the browser activation step with the same email used for trial access.
- Wait for the app polling window to finish. If it times out, restart and retry activation.
Tablet cannot connect after scanning QR
- Make sure tablet and host PC are on the same LAN/Wi-Fi network.
- Keep GolfSimRemote running on the host PC while scanning and connecting.
- Generate a fresh QR code and rescan if the previous one expired.
Connection opens but controls are blocked or unauthorized
- Use the QR login flow from the host instead of manually browsing to the host URL.
- If needed, log out and scan a new QR to create a fresh browser session.
- Do not reuse old bookmarks that point to expired QR-based sessions.
Buttons respond in app but GSPro™ does not react
- Verify GSPro™ is running on the same Windows machine as GolfSimRemote.
- Check that the GSPro™ window title still matches expected hint (GSPro™ by default).
- Close overlays/fullscreen blockers that may prevent key input from reaching GSPro™.
Remote control feels laggy or misses presses
- Use a stable 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection or wired host connection when possible.
- Reduce background load on the host PC (updates, downloads, streaming apps).
- Stay on local network control path. VPNs and guest networks can add delay.
App works, then trial suddenly locks
- Reconnect host PC to internet so periodic license verification can succeed.
- Re-launch app and complete activation again if the stored entitlement became invalid.
- If trial period has ended, contact support for next-step licensing options.
Cannot connect from tablet at all
- Allow GolfSimRemote through Windows Firewall on port 8787.
- Confirm no other app is already bound to port 8787.
- Temporarily disable strict network isolation or AP/client isolation on your router.
Need to move license to another machine
- Open Devices page to revoke old device activations before reactivating elsewhere.
- Install on the new host and complete normal activation flow.
- If device seat is still blocked, contact support and include your account email.
